About Padma Shree Group

The Padma Shree Group was founded by Late Mr. Badri P. Thapaliya. A man with a vision who saw the rich natural resources of Nepal could be harnessed and utilized for great economic development. Taking an early retirement from government service, he laid the foundation stone of the group . Shree Padma Saw Mill & Furniture Factory Pvt. Ltd. in 1963. Initially the company's main focus was towards the domestic demand fulfillment. Then, the company started exporting timber (Railway sleepers) to the Indian market, utilized in the construction of railway line by the Indian Railway. Furniture was a small side produce of this larger business.

There was a dearth of quality furniture in Nepal. People, who could afford it, imported them from outside Nepal. It was then realized that Nepal could form a sustainable base for quality furniture. This gave birth to Shree Padma Furniture Factory Pvt. Ltd. in 1978. Popularly known as Padma furniture, the name today is synonymous with excellent design and great quality furniture.

Branching out from the traditional wood-based business, Padma Shree Pvt. Ltd. was established in 1985. It functions as a trading house which imports goods that cannot be manufactured locally and exports quality local products to international market.

With the global economic upsurge of the 1980s, Nepal too witnessed phenomenal growth in the urban sectors. Residential and commercial complexes were a necessity. The demand for which could not be met by timber as it as it was getting scarce and expensive. The issue of environmental degradation also spurred the group to think of an alternative. This set the stage perfectly in 1992 for Altech Pvt. Ltd., a producer of high quality aluminum window and door.

The Padma Shree Group has in its ambit four companies that produces and deals in quality products and renders quality services to satisfied customers since 1963.
